Dubai government websites score high on accessibility for determined people

For the second year in a row, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has achieved 100% compliance with the accessibility assessment criteria for government websites and smart apps for the year 2021.

Dubai Police, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Dubai Municipality have also improved their digital channels to achieve a 100% compliance rate in the 2021 assessment.

No less than 11 government entities obtained a score of 10/10 for their level of compliance with the criteria in the evaluation of accessibility.

While several government entities have achieved a compliance rate of 90% or more in assessing the accessibility of their digital channels, a few others will work to improve the accessibility of their platforms for determined individuals.

The initiative is aligned with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, and the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, to create a cohesive, inclusive and supportive society in which determined people enjoy equal opportunities.

Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed said, “I am proud of the remarkable progress we have made in realizing Dubai’s goal of becoming an inclusive city for determined people. Dubai believes in the potential of everyone and seeks to provide opportunities for everyone to participate in nation building. The emirate is committed to nurturing the talent of its people and providing them with equal opportunities in health, education, social welfare and employment. Our efforts stem from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision to create an enabling and friendly environment for determined people and his commitment to introduce laws and initiatives to make this a reality.

He added, “I want to thank all government entities that have changed their smart platforms and apps to increase accessibility for determined people. Our ratios are in line with international standards, which reflect the desire of government entities to support the creation of a truly inclusive society for determined people.
