Job sites for the unvaccinated are emerging

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – As vaccination warrants take effect, people who have not received a COVID-19 vaccine will begin to lose their jobs, and experts say they will struggle to find a new one workplace.

“They are putting themselves in a very difficult situation,” says Phil Blair, founder of Manpower San Diego.

“It’s going to be very difficult because companies are very concerned about protecting their customers,” he says. “And they are very concerned about keeping their employees healthy.”

In San Diego, several large employers have instituted vaccination mandates. They include the San Diego Unified School District, new hires for San Diego County, and most health facilities / hospitals. A federal mandate states that any private company with 100 or more employees must also mandate the vaccine or offer weekly testing.

Blair says this limits employment options for people who don’t want to be vaccinated.

“You hit a wall. Right now you can work for a company that has 100 or 99 employees or less. But if they encourage unvaccinated people to come, you don’t want to be there.”

As unvaccinated people enter the workforce, several websites have sprung up to help them find jobs at companies that do not need the COVID-19 vaccine.

Andrew Crapuchettes launched Redballoon.Work in August, with a mission to “connect employers who value freedom with employees who value it too”.

He says that to date, around 600 companies have posted job openings on his website, and thousands have logged in to watch.

“Some people, including me, think you should be having a conversation with your healthcare professional, not your human resources department, about what you’re putting into your body,” Crapuchettes explains.

Other job sites for people without a vaccine include and the social media site The front page of says, “We believe that no right is more sacred than the right of each individual to control over his or her own person, free from coercion or interference from others. This job site is intended for vacant positions in companies. that match our values. “

Crapuchettes says it’s important to help people earn a living. He also believes companies can benefit from this new, unvaccinated workforce.

“You have employers who are reaping the rewards of all these great workers who are now being released into the workforce in a very tight labor market,” he says.

But in California, jobs for unvaccinated people are scarce.

RedBalloon only lists 35 jobs statewide. NoVaxMandate only has four jobs based in San Diego.

And Blair points out that while 98% of businesses in San Diego have fewer than 100 employees, they only account for 59% of jobs. In many cases, Blair says larger companies have more opportunities and better wages / benefits.

“It’s a decision you have to make for the safety and economic benefit of your family,” he says about whether or not to get the vaccine if your business requires it. “But know that this (vaccination warrant) is the new reality, and it’s not going to go away.”

Blair and Crapuchettes say the best option for people looking for a job right now is to focus on industries where you can work from home. Beyond that, they say it could be a great opportunity to start your own business.
