Boost business environment, ensure full coverage of social protection schemes: PM Modi tells BJP-led states

On July 24, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a lengthy meeting with top ministers and deputy chief ministers of BJP-led states. He urged them to ensure that all social protection programs are fully implemented and to improve the country’s economic climate. Chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from 18 states attended the meeting, which lasted more than four hours. JP Nadda, chairman of the BJP, was also present.

The meeting brought together top ministers from Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand (Pushkar Singh Dhami), Madhya Pradesh (Shivraj Singh Chouhan) and Uttar Pradesh (Yogi Adityanath).

Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland and Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai were present at the meeting. So were the chief ministers of Goa, Tripura Gujarat. Devendra Fadnavis from Maharashtra, Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi from Bihar were among the deputy chief ministers present at the meeting.

Better execution of various important government programs and initiatives including GatiShakti, Har Ghar Jal, Svamiva, DBT implementation and others were the focus of Modi’s remarks at the meeting, according to a BJP statement.

“Prime Minister Modi stressed the need to ensure saturation level coverage of all key programs and said BJP-led states should take the lead in this regard,” it read.

Stressing the need to ensure the ease of doing business, Modi spoke about several initiatives taken by his government.

“He encouraged states to take steps to further strengthen the business environment in the country,” the party statement said.

Furthermore, Modi urged chief ministers to ensure that sports are given appropriate priority in their states and that the best facilities are available to promote widespread youth engagement and participation.

The meeting also included Vinay Sahsrabuddhe, chairman of the party’s good governance department, and Union Minister Bhupender Yadav.

According to reports, discussions on achieving a 100% target for all centrally sponsored social initiatives and flagship programs have taken place among chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of the 18 states where the BJP is in power, alone or in coalition with other parties.
