Cabool Council Receives Economic Development Update

Cabool City Council members received an update on economic development and discussed debts related to fire calls and utilities at its June 13 meeting.

Council heard from economic developer Ron Reed, who reported on several issues:

•Three new house starts are underway in the southeast part of the community. Once sold, more will be added.

•Others are under construction in the northern part of the community.

•L&R Industries continues to grow and has ongoing construction projects at its Twin Cities Industrial Park campus in Dunn. Some grants have been obtained to cover water and sewage costs. Some American Rescue Plan Act funds may also be used.

• Plans are under way to add an additional 200 acres to the Twin City Industrial Park. With the expansion and availability of utilities, this could move the park onto the state’s favorite site list, which would be a huge boon to the area, he said.

Council members also canceled utility and fire call debts before 2018. Council will continue to consider how best to make collections.

In his written report, Administrator Ron Scheets reported on a new Missouri Public Utility Alliance program that will establish a team of traveling linemen to help communities complete projects without having to contract them out. totally. It will also provide training opportunities for local staff.
