The Ministry of Economy is urging the public to beware of scammers operating a fake online portal to bring expatriate workers to the Maldives.

The fake online portal used by the scammers appears to have copied the one set up by the government.

In a press release issued by the ministry, they stated that these types of “fake portals/websites” are often used to obtain users’ personal information with the intention of misusing it.

The ministry has advised all recruiters to be careful of people using fake portals. The website used by the ministry is https://xpat.egov.mv.

The Ministry of Economy invites everyone to check the link provided by the Ministry when using these services.

The online expat portal is used to apply for expat quotas and work permits.

The ministry asked to only use the website provided by them, and if another platform was used to reset the password used for this.

They warned everyone to watch out for any fraudulent immigration websites they might see.
