Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has made great efforts and progress in socio-economic development over the past decades, said Manuela, World Bank Regional Vice President for East Asia and the Pacific. V.Ferro said during a meeting with National Assembly Speaker Vuong Dinh Hue in Hanoi on March 22.

She said the complex developments predicted for the world in the next 30 years require longer and clearer visions, as well as national strategic directions, promising that the World Bank will provide technical consultations to help Vietnam make decisions. and strategic policies.

For his part, Hue said that the Vietnamese legislator has repeatedly amended the laws relating to the mobilization of resources, in particular those relating to the supervision of the use of official development assistance (ODA).

The government and the NA have made great efforts to restructure public finances and debt, and have achieved positive results, he said, adding that the Vietnamese legislature hopes to cooperate with the bank in this regard.

The top legislator also expressed his hope that the bank will maintain its consultation mechanisms with Vietnamese ministries and agencies in seeking ways to increase efficiency in the use of loans.

He called on the WB and other development partners to support Vietnam in consolidating its legal system, especially economic development institutions amid the fourth industrial revolution and digital transformation.

Hue also requested the bank’s technical and policy consultations in areas such as sustainable development, green growth and climate change adaptation, and in keeping with the net zero emissions by 2050 commitment that the Vietnam took at the 26th United Nations Conference of the Parties on climate change. (COP26).

NA agencies will hold the annual national economic forum to consult with domestic and foreign scientists in policy-making, he said, expressing hope that BM will actively participate in the process.

Ferro said the WB hopes to strengthen cooperation with the Vietnamese legislature in the future, and WB experts stand ready to cooperate with the legislature.

She said the bank is coordinating with Vietnamese agencies to produce the Vietnam 2045 report. Therefore, he would like to exchange information with NA agencies.

Mentioning Vietnam’s commitment at COP26, she affirmed that the WB will help Vietnam integrate the commitment into its development goals in a smooth, practical and achievable way.

On the same day, the Regional Vice President of the World Bank had a meeting with Politburo Member, President of the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy (HCMA) and Chairman of the Central Theory Council, Nguyen Xuan Thang .

During the meeting, she stressed that the World Bank will continue to support the Vietnamese government in development in the coming times, expressing her impression of Vietnam’s development achievements.

The bank is willing to assist Vietnam in developing the Vietnam 2045 report, thereby helping the country achieve the set strategies, plans and targets, especially in social resource mobilization, infrastructure development, green growth, digital transformation and the response to climate change, an independent body and a self-reliant economy, and rapid, sustainable and inclusive development, Ferro noted.

She also affirmed the bank’s willingness to cooperate and share its experience with Vietnam in the elaboration of development guidelines and policies.

For his part, Thang highlighted the bank’s contributions to Vietnam’s socio-economic development, as well as its assistance to the HCMA, saying that international cooperation has helped improve the training, scientific research and policy consultation capacity of professors. and academy officials. /.
